Spence received Dawn’s call on his Satphone.

She asked, “Sir, can we now speak openly to you? The request I have would take me hours to put into code, and time is too short for this issue.”

He replied, “Wait one”

He reached into his briefcase. He took out a small electronic device. He attached it to his phone. He pressed a button. The device made a pinging noise. He looked at it. He nodded, “Sergeant Pearly made a device for me that pings the line to let me know if there is more than one listener on the line at any moment. If there are others, it echoes their presence. Right now, you’re the only one. It will ping every few seconds, but you just ignore it.

“Go ahead!”

Dawn related the evening’s events that occurred in the hotel restaurant. She asked, “Using the name and information I’ve given you about Absalom Raz, can you ask our General to ask the proper people on our side to ask the proper people in Israel to permit him to work with us.”

She plunged on, “Things are coming to a head here in Mogadishu. We believe that within the next twenty-four hours, maybe the next forty-eight, we will need to move to prevent the North Koreans and their rogue sniper from stealing the device in question.”

Spence’s brow furrowed in concern, “Okay, Captain. Let me see what I can accomplish on that issue, and I will be in Mogadishu within the next few hours to add myself, Staff Sergeant Grover, and, I guess Major Harvey to your, Sergeant First Class Slover’s, and Chief Masters’ efforts.”

Harvey did a fist pump and hissed, “Yes!”

Dawn took a deep breath, “That’s wonderful, sir, but I thought you were in Korea, and Grover and Harvey were on assignment somewhere else!”

“I was, and they were, but I picked them up on the way here.”

“Wonderful! On which airlines will you be arriving?”

“We’ll be on Team Reliant private jet.”

“Oh, my gosh.” She effused, “I’m impressed!”

“Major Harvey will be pleased to hear it. I’ll call you later with the time of arrival. Also, I’ll call you with our clothing sizes and shoe sizes. I will require some civilian clothes if I am to walk the streets of Mogadishu. Right now. I have calls to make.

“Spence, out!”
